Reader's Column: "My Husband has A Micropenis. Can I still get pregnant? "

Recently I got a really long email from a female reader of the website called Jane.

The short version of itis that her husband has a micropenis and although she has no problem with the size per se, she is worried that for whatever reason she might have problems getting pregnant now they are thinking of starting a family...

As I told her,the most important thing is for him to be able to ejaculate inside her. In her emails, she explained me that they usually do other stuff and they are both happy with their sex life so I just wanted to clarify they are able to have "traditional" penetrative sex, which turns out is a possibility for them.

Then I explained her that in some men, the micropenis condition is the result of hormonal imbalances (e.g. testosterone deficiency) that can result from all kinds of genetic conditions, that may or may not be hereditary so that's certainly they need to check out.

Furthermore, studies have shown that men with the condition have a slightly higher chance to present with a low sperm count, which might result in decreased fertility and in very rare cases total infertility.

Now, with both these two things in mind, I concluded that if they are serious about having babies then they better visit a specialist to get a medical opinion on all possible scenarios and problems that may arise..

Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below. I will gladly forward them to Jane.

  1. Great recap. The sperm count study would be must if they have not been able to conceive yet. A specialist would really help resolve most concerns.
